The Kolner Dom (Cologne Cathedral)
Surrounding the Cathedral
Big arch, little sweetie. Remnants from the Roman times?
St. Mary's Portal, on the west face.
The Dom is officially the Cathedral of Sts. Peter and Mary.
Figures of the Old Testament, adorning the portal of St. Mary.
Above the western portal, the main entrance.
There are no horizontal lines in the Cathedral. Everything is vertical, drawing your eyes toward the heavens.
From the rear of the cathedral, you can see the black spires of the towers in the background.
The view of the twin spires, complete with scaffolding. I don't even want to know how it got there.
Amazing details... as delicate as lace, yet made in stone.
St. Peter's Portal, on the south face of the Cathedral.
One of the many statues surrounding the cathedral.
Possibly St. Barbara, often symboloized by a tower with three windows, signifying the Trinity.
