Monday evening, after exploring Zealand,
Russ and I decided to finish the day off by going to Tivoli Gardens.
Having both read and been told that the best time to visit Tivoli
is at night, when some gazillion Christmas lights make the whole place
sparkle, we saved it for last. There was just one little problem,
though - night falls about 10 or 11 in Copenhagen, so we had hours (and
hours) on our hands. Hmmm, make that two little problems - I thought
Tivoli was a garden with some old amusement rides. I was not quite
prepared to find it a state-of-the-art full-scale, complete with
brand-new rollercoaster amusement park. Russ, on the other hand,
had a better understanding of the place, leaving him confused as to why
we weren't buying ride tickets. In the end everything worked out,
as we spent lots of time (and money) in the midway, where Russell won
three prizes. We also discovered a couple air hockey tables,
which made Russell quite happy. Until the first one looked like it
was missing the "air" in air hockey, and the second table took our
money. Back to skeeball we went. We also had some delicious
ice cream (what's an amusement park without ice cream?) and spent some
time just relaxing by the lake and watching cloud patterns. We
left before it got dark, but we did get to see some of the lights.

I dragged Russell around looking for a particular building with a particular dome. Not quite what I had in mind, but close. Tivoli lights up for the evening Aha! This is the building I was searching for!
